About Skyline Tree Service
Owner and operator Michael McLaughlin has been working in the Eastern Sierra professionally since 2001. McLaughlin began his arboriculture career in 1999 with the U.S. Forest Service where he had worked eight seasons before making the transition to the private sector. McLaughlin graduated from Humboldt State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resources, and is currently a California License Tree Service Contractor (D-49, # 976309), an American Society of Consulting Arborist, Registered Consulting Arborist (# 683), an International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certified Arborist (# WE-9537AT), Certified Tree Worker “Climber Specialist” and has obtained a Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ). Skyline Tree Service offers Plant Health Care services and holds a Qualified Applicator License with the California Department of Pesticide Regulation (# 47125).
McLaughlin holds active memberships with both the ISA and ISA Western Chapter and understands the value of staying current in contemporary arboriculture science, management, and practices by regularly studying Continuing Education Units (CEU’s) and attending professional conferences.
Certified Arborist
A Certified Arborist is a credential administered by the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA). All arborists are required to have a minimum of three years’ experience in arboriculture, pass and comprehensive written exam, and continually participate in ongoing education in arboriculture.
Certified Tree Worker “Climber Specialist”
A Certified Tree Worker “Climber Specialist” is a credential administered by the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA). All arborists are required to have a minimum of 18 months of tree climbing experience in arboriculture, pass both a tree climbing skills exam and written exam, have documented training in aerial rescue, maintain a current certification in CPR/First Aid, and continually participate in ongoing education in arboriculture.
Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ)
A Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ) is a qualification administered by the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA). All arborists are required to be a Certified Arborist, complete a multi-day workshop and pass both a practical and written exam in tree risk assessment.
Registered Consulting Arborist (RCA):
A Registered Consulting Arborist is a credential administered by the American Society of Consulting Arborists (ASCA). All arborists must have at least five years of experience in arboriculture,
complete the course and pass the exams for the ASCA Consulting Academy in addition to having educational requirements such as the possession of a four-year degree in arboriculture or a closely related field.
